SONG FOR WALES (Cān I Gymru)
Helen’s latest achievement is having one of her songs selected for the final round of this year’s Song for Wales (Cān I Gymru) competition. The song is a pop-ballad love song, called 'Hebot Ti' (Without You) which she composed on the piano.
Song for Wales will be broadcast on S4C live from Llangollen, North Wales, on March 1st 2001. S4C is a terrestrial channel available in Wales only, but Sky Digital subscribers can also elect to receive it, free of charge.
In preparation for the programme, a television camera crew travelled to Helen’s home in Wokingham, Berkshire, on February 15th, to interview and film her in her recording studio.
Helen has chosen not to do the live performance of her song, which will instead be sung by talented young Welsh singer Cathryn Ayres (see photo).
The winner of the competition is decided by viewers of the programme, who will vote by telephone on the night of the competition. The winning song goes on to represent Wales in the Pan-European Celtic Festival, later this year.
Helen's English language version of 'Hebot Ti' will be available for free download from this website after March 1st, and is also featured on her upcoming album.
